Dogs cannot be treated as humans. They are not a replacement for a child, they are not toys for children to get bored with and throw away. They are not something to take your frustrations out on and shout at. A dogs need is one of strong leadership and a pack environment. Without these, a dog will become unbalanced and problem behaviours like aggression, anxiety and possessiveness occur. A dog will see you as having an unstable mind and will attempt to take over as the alpha in your pack as he sees that you cannot perform the job. A dog is at his happiest when he knows his place in life. No amount of toys,expensive dog clothes or designer gear will make your dog happy. Those are human emotions being put onto the dog. If it makes me happy, then surely my dog will be happy too? No is the answer I'm afraid.

A homeless man is walking down the street with all his worldly possessions in a shopping trolley. He has a dog. The dog walks by his side and follows him everywhere. The dog never asks for anything in return but companionship and a leader to follow. Now ask yourself this, does that dog need a designer collar?
