Nicknamed the ‘Big Girl’ a British fish enthusiast has acquired the world's biggest koi carp – at 4ft long and weighing in at over six-and-a-half-stone, it’s the average size of a small child and three times larger than any other carp in the UK
-
Geoff Lawton of Melksham, Wiltshire bought the 17-year-old koi from a specialist breeder in Japan. He has kept tightlipped about how much he paid but he has already suggested he could easily put a £30,000 price tag on the 90lbs specimen. A kagoi carp, which have orange or gold scales and can live for more than 40 years.
-
Geoff, runs the family-owned Rainbow Koi shop; where The ‘Big Girl’ can be seen splashing around the 8ft square show pool in the centre of the shop.
