The wait is almost over the new is due to hit UK cinema screens on the 27th July. At a press launch this week, Matt Groening, the creator of the popular US cartoon series the Simpsons, said that the film will contain many of the characters fans are used to, but its not just for fans who have watched every episode, it will still be relevant to those who have watched few or no Simpsons shows at all.

Originally created in 1985, the show has become the longest running animated series in the world. The show features pet characters such as Santas Little Helper (the dog), Snowball 2 (the cat), and Itchy and Scratchy (an animated cat and mouse show, within the Simpsons show are you following this?). In fact the Simpsons pets are as famous as the other Simpsons characters and during the 400 episodes have featured in many of them.

Will the Simpsons pets feature in the new Simpsons feature film? Only time will tell.
