…be sure you know the restrictions for dog walkers and horse riders this summer.

-

-

As the weather reaches record highs, many of us are tempted to head for the many beaches and coastlines surrounding our small island for the bank holiday break. Pets such as dogs either love the water or loathe it (depends if the word ‘bath’ is used), but do your research before taking your dog to the beach with you to spare an embarrassing encounter with environment officials or even a fixed penalty fine of up to £500. Many beaches are subject to extra rules introduced by the environment department over the summer months while beach use is at its peak.

-

Many restrictions come into force on 1st May 2007 and last up to the end of September 2007. They include beaches where dogs are banned and other rules on times vehicles can be driven and horses ridden.

For more information contact the local authority where the beach is located or speak to the local tourist information office who may have information on beaches where you and your dog or horse can enjoy the beach together.
