A new writer joined the My Pet Friends team this week. She’s great – really bubbly and a great person to have around the office. During her first day she asked an interesting question - ‘Where did the My Pet Friends idea come from?’ This is what our owners told her: - The site was set up after their frustration at finding suitable, reliable and trustworthy boarding services for their West Highland White Terrier. They found information using a few sites on the internet, discovered local services in the phone book and heard about services from friends and family, but searching for these was tiresome and the information obtained varied in quality and detail – they also had no idea how good the services provided were, other than the ones they heard about from personal recommendations. - They found sites that were very difficult to navigate or were just online directories forwarding them to other sites and services. It was a poor show, and as they continued their search, it soon became evident that what they were doing was research into what made a good site. - They found that pet owners wanted a clear and user friendly site with access to a network of services, but they also wanted to be part of a community where they could read what others were saying about the services they had used so they could be better informed about what they were buying into. Pet owners also wanted to chat and share information about themselves and their pets, hear about pet events and special offers for pets and leave messages for other pet owners (lost and found, requests for advice and help). In essence, what they wanted was a site that offered more than just a directory of businesses; they wanted a social networking opportunity. - So, they put all these ideas together and here we are on the My Pet Friends site – a clear, easy to use powerful site that appeals to pet owners of all ages who own all manner of pets. - So now you know.
