Think awards ceremonies are just for the rich and famous? Think again – the Pet Care Trust is now rolling out the red carpet. The endeavour and dedication of outstanding individuals and businesses in the pet industry will this year be celebrated for the first time at the glamorous, inaugural Pet Industry Awards. And the Trust is calling for nominations – for exceptional pet retailers, manufacturers and grooming businesses.
-
The awards, sponsored by Mars Petcare and Nestlé Purina, are set to take place at the Marriott Forest of Arden Hotel and Country Club on Sunday 20 September during Glee Petindex (20-22 September, NEC Birmingham).
-
‘The Pet Care Trust has launched these awards to celebrate those businesses that go the extra mile to help the public to care for their pets,’ said Steve Fowler, event committee chairman. ‘The awards are open to all manufacturers, retailers and grooming businesses – big or small – who can demonstrate excellence in the services they provide.’
-
The awards are presented in association with the Pet Care Trust and PBW News, which guarantees excellent publicity for the shortlisted nominees and the final winners.
-
Glee director Daniel Thurlow commented: ‘We are very pleased to see the introduction of the Pet Care Trust’s Pet Industry Awards which will give some well-deserved recognition to excellence across the pet trade. It’s also a great complement to Glee Petindex that the Awards will be held on the first evening of the show. We have been keen to introduce a really enjoyable social element to Glee Petindex and with the whole industry on the spot, the Awards should be a great success.’
-
Businesses are invited to submit entries for all award categories, with the exception of the Petindex New Product Award (to be judged during Petindex) and the Lifetime Achievement Award, which will be decided by the Pet Care Trust Board of Directors. A selection of experienced industry heavyweights form the judging panel for the other categories. The deadline for entries is June 10, 2009. Awards criteria and entry details can be viewed at www.petcare.org.uk. Hard copies can also be requested from the Pet Care Trust.
-
Nominations are now invited in the following categories:
• Pet Store of the Year
• Manufacturer of the Year
• Grooming Business of the Year
-
And the good news is that – unlike some awards ceremonies – you don’t need to be best friends with Angelina Jolie to book your place at the Pet Industry Awards Dinner. This black tie event will include a three course dinner, live music from chart topping soul band, The Real Thing, as well as the presentation of the awards themselves.
-
Tickets for this glitzy affair will be available on a first-come first-served basis (£95 for dinner, or £195 for dinner plus one night’s accommodation at the hotel). Contact Hannah O’Dell at the Trust to book your table: call 01234 273933 or email
