Training your dog can be a difficult process. Some dogs are easier to train than others and a lot will depend upon your dogs own particular unique personality. However, with a bit of trial and effort and a lot of persistence, you will eventually be able to teach your dog to obey a few simple commands. Here are five of the most useful we have found to teach your dog...
-
1. Sit - An essential command that means "sit down". You should teach your dog to obey this first, as this is one of the most used phrases you will say to your dog to get them to calm down and control them.
-
2. Stay - Another useful command. This means "stay where you are", and will stop your dog from running off or wandering away somewhere without your knowledge.
-
3. Down - Meaning "lay down on the ground", this is another command that can be used to control your dog and make sure they do not move away from where they are.
-
4. No - A self-explanatory command, your dog will understand that they should not be doing something when this is said to them.
-
5. Heel - Meaning 'walk beside me', this command is mainly used to prevent your dog from running away and to stay by your side as you walk.
-
And remember, a well trained dog is also a happy dog, so it is important that they begin training them as soon as possible to improve the quality of their life and yours.
