18 month old Zumer Ahmed was mauled to death by the family’s dog at their home last Saturday.  The event was witnessed by her mother and by two workmen next door who intervened by releasing the dogs jaws from Zumer’s head, but despite their efforts she died shortly afterwards at hospital.

Aumer’s uncle, Arfan Ahmed, who owned the American bulldog called Game, bred dogs and was described by neighbours as a responsible owner.  The dog was accidentally let in to the home and what led the dog to behave in such a way is unknown.

This event raises further concerns about the safety of certain breeds.  Police are in the process of identifying the breed of dog which is believed to be a type of Mastiff.
