The Blue Cross pet charity is calling on animal lovers nationwide to join paws for a ‘tea-licious’ cause. The charity’s popular Tea Party fundraiser takes place on Friday 14 May 2010 and helps raise vital cash for the needy animals helped by The Blue Cross.
-
To take part, participants simply host a tea party of their own and invite guests to make a donation to The Blue Cross in return for tea, cake or refreshments of their choice. Proceeds from each party will go towards supporting the charity’s work caring for thousands of sick and homeless pets at its adoption centres, animal hospitals and mobile veterinary clinics across the UK.

Nine-year-old Phoebe Beresford-Hough from Brighton was one of many Blue Cross supporters who took part last year, collectively helping to raise more than £30,000 for animals in need. A huge animal lover, Phoebe decided that instead of gifts for her ninth birthday she would ask for donations to pass onto The Blue Cross instead. She raised an impressive £200, which has gone towards helping animals like Pluto - a kitten who was discovered lying under a hedge by a road. Staff at The Blue Cross animal hospital in Victoria, London, mended Pluto’s broken leg and fractured pelvis and she has now been transferred to one of the charity’s adoption centres.

The Blue Cross receives no government funding, so it relies on the support of the public to continue its vital work helping dogs, cats, horses and small pets across the UK.
