My Pet Friends’ editor Ranjit Khutan, who also works as an academic in Public Health at the University of Wolverhampton, donates generous fee for speaking at the Soroptimist Regional Conference 2010 to the Guide Dogs appeal.
-
At the conference earlier this year, Ranjit spoke about the use of innovative communication techniques to engage communities in community development and voluntary projects, specifically exploring the use of non-verbal body language and the power of drama.
-
“The focus of the presentation was specifically on non-verbal communication, and as such it seemed the obvious choice to donate the fee to Guide Dogs. These dogs provide an essential service for those who have difficulty in seeing, and although they are working dogs and not pets, as with all dogs they become such a part of your life and family. Living with visual impairment myself, I felt this fee would be ideal for this charitable cause”
-
His presentation was well received by those attending the conference providing them with information and ideas that they can use in their ongoing work with disadvantaged groups across the West Midlands region and in overseas projects that they contribute to.
-
The charitable donation to Guide Dogs is just one of the causes My Pet Friends has assisted in since it was created in 2006. The owners plan to increase their donations to charitable causes through the creation of a charitable trust that can feed into other Pet care charities.
