 It is with regret that the My Pet Friends team inform our readers that Pepsi, the West Highland White Terrier who was the inspiration behind this website, passed away peacefully on Sunday the 28th of September 2008, following a short fight against cancer of the Spleen.

Pepsi was welcomed into the home of his owners 8 years ago. A rescue dog with little history that came with him, his estimated age put him at just over 11 years old when he passed away. Having suffered terrible abuse, Pepsi was initially very nervous and distrustful of other people; but through gentle and persistent care, Pepsi became a wonderful dog, companion and friend. For the past six years he suffered from a skin condition and was required to take regular medication to keep the pain away. It was this illness that prompted the development of this site, a site that now brings pet owners more information not only about health conditions, but other pet news stories and contact with pet businesses and other owners.

At times like these, we are reminded of what our pets bring to us and a quote by Roger Caras, President of the American Society for the prevention of cruelty to animals, encapsulates what dogs, and indeed other pets, bring to their owners “Dogs are not our whole life, but they make our lives whole.”

Pepsi will never be forgotten and his lasting legacy through the My Pet Friends website will continue to assist other pet owners.
