The British Horse Society’s welfare campaign against indiscriminate breeding has found a new supporter in the Society of Equestrian Artists, who will display a selection of the Drawing the Line donations at a special BHS preview evening on 4 August 2010.
-
The Society of Equestrian Artists (SEA) is marking its 31st anniversary with a celebratory ‘Horse in Art’ exhibition running from 3-8 August at the Mall Galleries, London. For the first time, the event has been organised as a major open show for all equestrian artists. With the cream of equestrian artists and sculptors exhibiting, the show will appeal to horse and art lovers alike and with free public admission it is a date worth noting in diaries.
-
For members and supporters of The British Horse Society there is an additional incentive to attend, as a selection of donations to the ’Drawing the Line’ campaign will be on display at a unique preview evening on the Wednesday evening.
-
Drawing the Line has had tremendous support from showbusiness and equestrian celebrities and is also being supported by Sally Mitchell Fine Arts.
-
Donations will be offered for sale at the sporting art auction house, Cheffins of Cambridge, on 13 October 2010 where artists such as Malcolm Coward, SEA will have work auctioned alongside pieces by celebrities such as Alan Titchmarsh, Jilly Cooper and Noel Edmunds. Information about the campaign and all the works of art, items and experience days can be accessed online at the British Horse Society’s website, www.bhs.org.uk

Graham Cory, BHS Chief Executive said: “We have been taken aback by the generosity of all those who have provided us with outstanding works of art and highly sought-after experience days. I am sure that the opportunity to have one of these paintings – whether by one of the UK’s pre-eminent equestrian artists or by one of the nation’s favourite celebrities – hanging in one’s own home will generate a significant sum to help the BHS tackle the welfare problems arising from indiscriminate breeding of horses and ponies.”
