staffie.jpgKeep your pets safe this summer, do not allow dogs to swim in local ponds and lakes – they may be harbouring hazardous blue green algae.
-

Blue green algae can grow to dangerous levels in stagnant pools of water such as ponds and lakes.  Dogs who love to jump in and cool off can gulp down blue green algae that can lead to gastrointestinal and neurological problems.  If your dog has been swimming in a pond and shows signs of excessive salivation, weakness, panting or respiratory distress seek medical attention from your vet.
