Our take on the human characteristics we observe around us. This week, it’s ‘Nurses’ (or those who act like them). - Now, don’t get me wrong, I don’t mean to be catty when I say this, but we all have them in our lives – you know the type, the helpers, the rescuers, and the life healers. I haven’t been too well this week, been a bit under the weather, and I’ll be OK in a week or so as its probably just a change in weather that’s caused this, but these people seem to sniff this out and swoop down to prey on this fragility. - If you’re ill (human or animal) they’re there with doggy chocolate, cat treats, or just plain old non-fattening sympathy the minute you bump your head or spill milk. They are quite happy people, often working in IT where their caring skills are wasted, but it is their missed vocation as a helper that soon spills out into their social lives. They develop this insatiable appetite and need to help, care for the sick and provide a listening ear which is targeted at you or the nearest animal, vegetable or mineral around them. In this case it was me. - Carla is great, but she does make a mountain out of a molehill. She’s been hanging around here all day, making sorry eyes at me. She didn’t even get the hint when I scratched her and gave her my ‘back-off’ look, so I’ve had to suffer the endless stroking – but I guess it’s better than being used as a guinea pig for the crystal therapy that she is just read about. - I'm sure Carla’s telephone don’t make the familiar – 'triing-triing' - more an 'sos-sos' call. As soon as the conversation is over and the receiver hits the cradle people like Carla are round in a flash – with emergency flowers and sympathy. At other times you may not even tell them what’s getting you down but they seem to find out – even before you know yourself. - Annoying as it may seem at times, it's great to have these types in your life. I guess the reason why they care so much is so that they don’t have to deal with their own issues, ask them how they are and they'll avoid answering the question by flipping it back at you. When they're ill or get dumped, we are way busy waiting to become ill, or engaged in meaningful relationships – to see how they are. In fact they are quite happy to just stay in and look after themselves. - I joke about crystal healing, but if I were truly ill, I am sure it would have some benefit. In fact, I am enjoying this caressing and a little more pampering wouldn’t go amiss either. - Everyone should have a Carla in their lives. - Miaow - ![]() {moscomment} |
