OK, so you’ve noticed we’ve been off the pet scene for a while and some of you have been asking where we we’ve been. Some thought we had fallen out with each other, others thought we were erased from the My Pet Friends’ server (remember: we’re not real, we’re ‘virtual’ pets), others thought we were hibernating over the winter period. Well, the celebrity gossip writers can finally rest their fingers as we’re back by popular demand with our brand new, furry, huggable, tickle-our-belly new blog – we hope you enjoy it.

Our absence wasn’t for any of the reasons outlined above; we were away for other, entirely more boring reasons. Following the UK launch of My Pet Friends at the end of Autumn 2007 which we’re pleased to say has made this site one the largest UK pet news, largest pet shop sites, largest UK pet directory and largest UK social networking sites for pet owners (did we mention how large we are); our writing team were inundated with queries by pet shop owners to be featured on the site and from pet owners with queries about how they could use the site. As with any new service there were a few glitches to sort out and because of this, our writing team were unable to write up our blog and post it to the site. We realised we were placing many demands on them by asking them to write up our blog every few days so, after consultation with them and feedback from our readers we’ve changed the frequency of our pet blog – it will be posted at least every month – and we’ve created a structure that will be easier and clearer to read, with a few regular sections to give you the low-down on the most popular sections our readers ask for.

So, we hope you enjoy the read and that you come back often. We have lots to share with you, My Pet Friends.

Come back again soon,

Claire Guise, Cambridge: keep a toy box for your pets’ toys and then rotate them every so often. Your pet will think he or she is getting a new toy every week.
