Merry Christmas to all My Pet Friends users. We’re having a wonderful day and hope you are too. Our owners gave Teddy a Santa’s hat (Kitty: it looks great contrasted against his beautiful white coat); and Kitty has been given a beautiful new cat scratching post (Teddy: at least the settee will have a break from her claws this Christmas…he…he…he). - The plan for the rest of the day is to eat the gorgeous Christmas lunch that our owners are making for us - gourmet food that is specially produced for cats and dogs. Then we’ll watch the Queen’s speech (Kitty: Teddy’s claim to fame is that he met one of the Queens Corgis during a visit to London), then we’ll relax in front of the TV with a bone for Teddy and a cat nip filled toy for Kitty (Kitty: Pure heaven, I can’t wait). - Remember: be careful what you feed your pets this Christmas. Pets need different nutrients to humans, so feed them what they are used to or give them special Christmas food that was designed with them in mind (if you’re giving a cat or dog turkey, just a little bit is fine, but any more can make them ill.) And the big no-no is chocolate; do not give your dog chocolate as it contains theobromine (doggy chocolate is fine, it’s the human type were talking about here). Theobromine is a naturally occurring stimulant found in the cocoa bean and once ingested increases urination and affects the central nervous system as well as heart muscle. So, in effect, chocolate is like poison for a dog. - Thank you to all of you who sent us Christmas wishes.
