Our owners are a bit worse for wear this morning so we’ve kindly let them have a lie-in today which means we get a few special hours when the house is all ours - great. Snuggling up in front of the fire watching the movies we want to watch – now that’s the way to start 2007.

But we shouldn’t get too used to sitting around and relaxing, we overdid it a little bit this Christmas, and should really go for a walk to try and burn off a few calories. Kitty doesn’t want to go out as it’s too cold, and my excuse is that I need someone to walk me. Later perhaps. But seriously, pet obesity is a serious issue and with more and more pets following in the footsteps of their obese owners, you should make sure you include your pet in a fitness programme if you’re thinking of including a health and fitness regime in your New Years resolutions.
