The only household pets that hibernate are tortoises. For full details of how to safely hibernate your tortoise, and whether it is suitable to hibernate, please take a look at www.tortoisetrust.org for a full detailed guide. Most pet owners will know what to do and ensure that hibernation is safe, but it’s worth getting expert advice if you are new to hibernation. Many pet owners themselves may feel like hibernating during these months and many may even suggest that this is a natural instinct inherited in their genes from many years ago. There are varying suggestions, but the main one seems to be simply that the darker & colder nights make our owners want to stay in more. However, just because they stay in shouldn’t mean that we (Teddy in particular) should miss out on our walks. Pet owners may feel like slowing down around this time of year, but remember that pet dogs need their exercise time, so please try and take them for their regular walk. The walk will also make you feel more awake and cope with the cold, dull weather too.
