First there were the BAFTAs, then the Brits and now the glittering Veterinary Oscars! This is your chance to make a difference by honouring a celebrity vet who has brought a greater understanding of the animal world to the public through their involvement in the media. Horse Society help and advice leaflets – FREE

The British Horse Society’s Access Department has released revised advisory leaflets. The information is available free at the BHS website, www.bhs.org.uk

The leaflets have been produced as part of an ongoing campaign to update the Access Department’s literature, providing information for rights of way officers, new or experienced riders and landowners on aspects of good practice.

It’s hard to understand why someone might want to shoot a cat with an airgun, but the RSPCA are finding that such incidents over the last year have nearly doubled. These are alarming statistics, especially as new laws over airgun ownership and use came into force last October.

Don’t make it too easy for computer hackers and identity thieves to steal your identity, cash and personal data. A moneysupermarket.com survey revealed that a staggering 15 million computer users in the UK use their pets name as their password. With social networking sites such as Facebook and MyPetFriends on the rise, thieves could easily find out personal data that could be used to access other personal information. Our advice – don’t give out any information that you know is sensitive or personal.

Rabbit Dental Care

Edinburgh University recently carried out research which suggests that around 80% of rabbits are not fed enough hay and grass and, as a result their teeth grow too long. This is shocking research that every rabbit owner up and down the UK will want to take heed of. When left untreated, a bunny’s teeth can grow backwards causing many problems and discomfort. Dental decay also causes other intestinal problems, and owners often take their rabbits to the vet when it’s too late.

TV vet Matt Brash, star of ITV's "Zoo Vet At Large", urges rabbit owners to hop along to their vets, especially because 3 in 4 rabbits suffer from dental problems due to poor diet.
