Fancy a cup of cat poo coffee?

A £50 cup of coffee is being served up at uber posh Peter Jones Department store on the London’s Kings Road but its not just any old coffee – its actually brewed from the faecaes of the Asian palm civet cat.

Kopi Luwak, is the most expensive coffee in the world, retailing for around £324 a kilo, with only 260kg harvested a year.

New Puppy Registration – now Online

There are over 270,000 puppies registered with the Kennel Club each year and they are a vital part of the family unit. To ensure that a puppy has the best possible start in life, the Kennel Club is about to speed up this important process. However, until now the only way to transfer the registered ownership of a new puppy was through the post, which is slow and can lead to applications being lost.

With a growth in the interest and use of natural and alternative remedies people forget just how powerful and dangerous they can be.

None so more than a Lichfield pet owner who applied tea tree oil to an open wound on their eleven year old Dalmatian pet Poppet. The dog had suffered a cut when playing in a field near her home, so her concerned owner decided to apply tea tree oil to the cut. Having successfully used natural remedies before the owner did not realise that they may have an adverse affect – in this case, causing her pet Dalmatian to fit.

Oprah Winfrey dedicates show to dog

Oprah Winfrey’s pet cocker spaniel Sophie died last month from kidney failure. The adorable pet of 13 years gave her so much unconditional love that she states she was a true love in her life. She is planning to dedicate a show investigating the abuse of puppy farms / mills in the US, to her late pet.

Its a time to celebrate Great British Pets, as National Pet Month, supported by Iams, returns on 5 April 2008, celebrating pets and animals throughout the United Kingdom. Promoting responsible pet ownership, last year’s move to a month-long fundraising event saw it become the most successful to date in the charity’s 18 year history. Over 690 events held across the UK raised around £69,000 for local pet and animal charities. With the help of our nation’s pet lovers, the aim is to smash this record in 2008.

Volkswagen dog advert – offended / defended?

A 30 second advertisement featuring a Jack Russel cowering and shaking has been defended by its creators, the motor company Volkswagen.

286 viewers complained to the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) that the dog appeared to have been mistreated. The viewers felt that they could not see how a happy and healthy dog could be made to behave like that if it wasn’t distressed.
