Dog cruelty dog swallows nails hidden in sausages
Written by MyPetFriends
Tuesday, 07 May 2013
vet.jpg It continually shocks us when we hear stories about dog cruelty. As pet owners, we really can't understand why people would deliberately harm such beautiful and loving creatures. Meggie an 8 year old Bernese mountain dog from Elgin Scotland was the recent victim of cruelty when she ate cocktail sausages which contained concealed nails.

Dogs may be tied up in case they bite burgular
Written by MyPetFriends

dog staffie.jpg In a clampdown on dangerous animals, the Association of Chief police officers indicates that owners could be liable if their dog bites a burglar while they are out.  This comes as recent discussions by ministers to close out a loophole in the law that makes it difficult to prosecute attacks that take place on private property may mean that amendments to the dangerous dogs act, would result in householders being liable for prosecution in these cases.

Dog tattoos tramp stamps and dogvazzles
Written by MyPetFriends

dog in bag.jpg Without close links, it is no surprise that what we see in the US comes to the UK very quickly, and none so quickly as the craze for dog grooming.  But Tattoos and dogvazzles are the newest dog grooming trend from New York that will be coming to a grooming parlour near you… and not just in Essex.

Colloquially referred to as tramp stamps, this fashion for dog tattoos has worried a lot of pet people, because with the current interest in human tattoos, where people have a choice, dogs don’t.

Dangerous Dogs Laws Must Focus On Prevention
Written by MyPetFriends
Tuesday, 09 April 2013
dog growl 2.jpg New laws to tackle dangerous dogs are welcome but the Government must look at preventing incidents rather than dealing with them afterwards, according to the British Veterinary Association (BVA).

The Dangerous Dogs (Amendment) Bill, published today, will extend dangerous dogs legislation to make it an offence for a dog to be dangerously out of control in any place, including private property.

The BVA has long campaigned, alongside the major dog welfare charities and enforcers, for these changes which recognise that responsible owners must keep their dogs under control in all situations.
